Freddie is being recruited by Coach Jason French for Georgia State “at Guard or Tackle and maybe a possibility of playing defensive tackle”. We had a chance to talk with him about his recruitment, and how he is approaching the process.
What are you looking for when evaluating schools?
“The biggest thing is the school, I’m looking to get a good education, and I’m looking for a school with a good business program.”
Have you taken any visits yet, and do you have any planned?
“None so far, scheduled to go to SC State January 20. But it could all change because if I go on an official visit to Georgia Tech or NC State and they offer me, I’m not going to consider anybody else.”
Growing up in Statesboro, did you grow up a Georgia Southern Fan?
“Yes because both of my parents work for Georgia Southern and I have an older brother that plays at Georgia Southern, so I’ve always been around Georgia Southern.”
Since you obviously would prefer an offer from an FBS school, would the fact that South Alabama is going to be playing in the Sunbelt next year be an attraction?
“Not really, because I want to play at the highest level, but then again some of the schools in FCS are better than, say a South Alabama that would move up.”
When evaluating a school on the football side of things, what are you looking for in the football program itself?
“Definitely the quality of the team and looking at the offense or defense I will be playing in too. Definitely a school that has a tradition of winning championships and things like that.”
Absent an offer from Georgia Tech or NC State, are you leaning any particular direction right now?
“No, not really. If they don’t offer, I’m, just going to take all my official visits and then I’ll know probably early to mid January.”
Freddie’s first offer came from SC State, and he has an official visit scheduled with them on January 20. Stay tuned to Scout.com to see where Freddie ends up.
